Three of our great Victorian novelists, Collins and Dickens were close friends and work colleagues. I don't think Trollope had much to do with either. Trollope spent his non literary working life with the Victorian postal service and introduced the familiar red British post box.

Collins suffered from chronic pain most of his life and was heavily reliant on laudanum for coping with it; the influence of opium can be seen in some of his writings.
